My roommates and I had a moment of collective effervescence last night in the early hours of the morning in our dark living room to some of the best soothing boy folk songs. Honestly, these guys have the power to just carry you off to sleep before you realize it. I thought of dozens more in the mean time, so I made a mixtape. Meanwhile, I’m writing a paper about Claudio Magris, who always seems to have opportune things to say: “One does not need a faith in God. Sufficient is a faith in created things, that enables one to move among objects in the conviction that they exist, persuaded of the irrefutable reality of this chair, this umbrella, this cigarette, this friendship.” Yes, thank you, Claudio, sometimes it’s nice to be reminded of the irrefutable reality of your friendships, especially when the soundtrack is good.
